Kirsten's boys visit AZ

Mason is 3, Jacob is 2, and Luke is 9 months. She's one busy mommy!

Granny eating sushi for the first time

Erik and Sarah love sushi, but rarely get it since it's an expensive treat, but since Mom never had it, we splurged and went to the revolving sushi bar up the street from our house. The covered food is put on little plates and sent around the room on a conveyer belt and you pick off what you want. Granny tried california rolls and later some salmon!

Light Rail to downtown Phoenix

The first day of Mom's visit, we rode the light rail downtown to visit Heritage Square. Unfortunately, this victorian house was closed, but we were able to go next door to the only row of original houses left in downtown Phoenix. One of the housed a doll museum, so we went through that.
We then rode the light rail to the Pueblo Hohokam museum (next blog), and after that had a late lunch at Chuckbox in Tempe (the best hamburgers, fries and onion rings on the planet!).

Grand Canyon

We went to the Grand Canyon on Mom's second day here. Flagstaff still had snow, which was beautiful! The Canyon was covered in snow on the rim also, but it was warm enough to be in short-sleeved shirts, so that was kind of wierd! We toured the Hopi House, El Tovar, and the other historical buildings there. We had a picnic lunch, and walked pretty much the entire paved trail along the rim. Saw some mule deer and an elk. We stayed the night in Flagstaff and had diner at Olive Garden before heading to Sedona the next day (next blog).

Sedona

Sedona is my favorite place in Arizona! Its beautiful never fades no matter how many times I've been there. We went to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, which is built into a mountain, giving visitors a spectacular view from above Sedona. They have a wonderful gift shop in the basement and we picked up some lovely items there. We went to Tlaqupacque and picked up some more items :) . We walked main street and had lunch in the food court that looked out over the mountains. We were pretty tired by then from all the walking, and headed back home before it got dark.

Our fruit trees

We enjoyed having fresh oranges and lemons in our back yard this winter. We've had lemonade every day for a couple of months! It's spring now though and the fruit is used, but the blossoms smell so delicious, and mean lots of fruit for next winter!
